Jaipur: Cybercriminals in Rajasthan are continuously evolving their tactics to defraud unsuspecting individuals. The Cyber Crime Branch of the Rajasthan Police has issued a strong advisory urging the public to be vigilant against a new wave of cyber fraud involving the mandatory update of Know Your Customer (KYC) details.

According to SP (Cyber Crime) Shantanu Kumar Singh, fraudsters are posing as bank officials and contacting people through fake SMS messages, emails, or direct phone calls. These criminals instill fear in their targets by threatening that their bank accounts will be blocked and all transactions will be halted if they fail to update their KYC information immediately.

Panicked victims often inquire about the KYC update process, at which point the cybercriminals instruct them to download a suspicious malware APK file or share their One-Time Password (OTP). By following these deceptive instructions, individuals inadvertently hand over their sensitive personal and banking information to the criminals, leading to significant financial losses through cyber fraud.

Stay Safe from Cybercriminals: Essential Precautions

The Rajasthan Police Cyber Crime Branch has issued the following crucial guidelines to help citizens protect themselves from these scams:

  • Be aware: No legitimate bank or financial institution will ever request your confidential information via phone calls or unsolicited messages.
