NEW DELHI, July 12, 2025 – Prime Minister Narendra Modi today addressed the 16th edition of the ‘Rojgar Mela’ (Employment Fair), distributing over 51,000 appointment letters to newly inducted recruits in various government departments and organizations. Speaking via video conferencing, PM Modi underscored India’s unique demographic dividend and its vibrant democratic framework as the nation’s two “limitless powers” poised to drive development and global influence.
“Today, the world acknowledges that India possesses two immense powers: one is demography, and the other is democracy. In other words, the largest youth population and the largest democracy,” the Prime Minister stated, emphasizing that this dual strength is both the capital and the guarantee for a bright future for India.
The latest Rozgar Mela saw new appointees joining diverse Central Government Ministries and Departments, including Railways, Home Affairs, Department of Posts, Health & Family Welfare, Financial Services, and Labour & Employment. These appointments were made across 47 locations nationwide, marking a significant step in the government’s commitment to prioritizing employment generation. So far, more than 10 lakh recruitment letters have been issued through these Rozgar Melas since their inception in October 2022.
PM Modi congratulated the new recruits, highlighting that their varied roles are united by a common principle: “Citizen First” (Nagrik Devo Bhava) and “National Service” (Rashtriya Sewa). He urged them to contribute actively to the vision of a ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India).
The Prime Minister also touched upon the rapidly evolving nature of jobs in the 21st century, stressing the government’s focus on innovation, startups, and research to prepare the youth for emerging opportunities. He mentioned that agreements signed during his recent five-nation visit would also benefit Indian youth, boosting sectors like defence, pharmaceuticals, digital technology, energy, and rare earth minerals.
Highlighting the growth in the manufacturing sector, PM Modi noted that electronics manufacturing in India has seen a fivefold increase in the past 11 years, now valued at nearly ₹11 lakh crore. He also cited the success of schemes like PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana and Namo Drone Didi, which are creating new employment avenues at the grassroots level. Furthermore, the recently approved Employment Linked Incentive Scheme, with an allocation of approximately ₹1 lakh crore, is expected to generate around 3.5 crore new jobs in the private sector.
The Prime Minister reiterated his government’s commitment to empowering the youth (Yuva Shakti) and making them catalysts in nation-building, asserting that the Rojgar Mela initiative is a testament to this resolve.
